Introduction to tetrodotoxin poisoning

Puffer fish (puffer fish) is produced in China along the coast and the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. There are many species, each of which contains different amounts of poison and different parts. Generally speaking, the ovary, testis, skin, liver and roe of puffer fish are all highly toxic, and the most toxic is during the reproductive and breeding period at the turn of winter and spring. A few varieties of muscle also contain strong poison. Fish size has nothing to do with virulence. Tetrodotoxin is an alkaloid contained in puffer fish. The toxin is considered to be the strongest non-protein neurotoxin in nature.
