Brief introduction of manganese poisoning

Manganese poisoning is a toxic reaction caused by excessive intake of manganese. Acute manganese poisoning can be caused by oral administration of potassium permanganate or inhalation of high concentration manganese oxide smoke, and acute corrosive gastroenteritis, irritating bronchitis and pneumonia are its main clinical manifestations. Chronic manganese poisoning is mainly seen in workers who inhale manganese smoke for a long time. The clinical manifestations are mainly extrapyramidal nervous system symptoms, neurobehavioral dysfunction and mental disorder. Exposure to manganese is greater among industrial workers in manganese mining and smelting, in the manufacture of manganese electrodes, in the welding and wind cutting of manganese alloys, and in the manufacture and application of manganese dioxide, permanganate and other manganese compounds.
