Introduction to Hypothermia in the Elderly

Hypothermia refers to a state where the temperature of the deep parts of the human body (rectum, esophagus, tympanum) is lower than 35°C (95°F). The hypothermia is caused by thermogenesis disorder, such as hypothyroidism. It is also caused by excessive heat dissipation, such as prolonged exposure to a low temperature environment. Elderly people may not rise in body temperature due to insufficient nutrition and calories, poor body temperature regulation, insufficient heat preservation, disease, etc.
