Brief introduction of chromobacillosis

Chromobacillus is caused by a kind of gram-negative microbacillus, chromobacillus, which does not produce spores. Bacteria exist in water and soil, and also in blood in contaminated blood banks. There is often a clear history of contact, and several people in a family get sick. There are many rashes, which usually occur in the trunk. In severe cases, abscess or localized cellulitis with fluctuating feeling is found on the skin, accompanied by lymphangiitis and lymphadenitis, and fatal septicemia can be caused in severe cases. Diagnosis is mainly based on bacteriological examination. Tetracycline, chloramphenicol and streptomycin are effective.
