It must be distinguished from psoriasis, tinea versicolor, eczema, vitiligo and syphilis. Psoriasis is characterized by repeated layers of silvery white dry scales on erythema. Tinea versicolor, commonly known as sweat spot, is a superficial mycosis caused by Malassezia furossezia infecting epidermis stratum corneum. Eczema is a common allergic inflammatory skin disease, which is characterized by diversified rashes, symmetrical distribution, severe itching, repeated attacks and easy evolution into chronic rashes. It can occur at any age, any place and any season, but often recur or worsen after winter. Vitiligo is a localized white patch that occurs due to skin depigmentation, which makes local skin appear white spot-like. Skin syphilis rash is characterized by various and repeated rash types, extensive and symmetrical, painless, and no scar after healing. The main rash types are macula-like, papule-like, pustular syphilis rash, flat condyloma, palmoplantar syphilis rash and so on. Psoriasis, tinea versicolor, eczema and white purpura can be identified by clinical manifestations, while syphilitic rash with spirochete infection needs strict bacterial examination and identification.
